Kali Puja Nov. 8. 6pm. Retreat w/Swamis Sarvadevananda and Atmajnanananda Nov. 18-19

Our annual Kali Puja will happen on Nov. 8 from 6pm until about 1am. This is the elaborate worship of Ma Dakshina Kali, the gracious form of this devi who is usually thought to be fierce. The Mother of the Universe.  The ceremony includes the long worship in which the Devi is invoked in many ways, followed by a homa fire and flower offering. After that the Devi is invited to return to her preferred formless state of Oneness. After the ceremony, the offered food is shared as Prasad, late in the night. You are welcome to attend part or all of this puja. If you wish to bring offerings, please try to bring them by 6pm. You may bring food if it is something that does not need to be cooked or heated up at the retreat.

This may sound odd, but please do not come if you are sick or are experiencing symptoms that might be attributed to illness. Lately there have been outbreaks of the flu during gatherings at a couple of Vedanta Centers because one person attended with the flu and spread it widely through the groups.

Swamis Sarvadevananda and Atmajnanananda will give a 2 day retreat Nov. 18-19. Swami Sarvadevananda’s subject will be the Devi Upanishad. Swami Atmajnanananda’s subject will be The Fruits of Meditation. On both days the schedule will be as follows:

10:30am-1pm. Session 1.

1pm Lunch

2:30pm-5pm Session 2.

There are some overnight spaces left in the women’s house. Please contact us if you wish to reserve an overnight space. There are no spaces in the men’s house. All day visitors are welcome. Please let us know if you are planning to attend as a day visitor. This is for our meal count.

No tours at Ridgely from Nov. 1-20.  We love having visitors and giving tours but lately we have been overwhelmed with requests. I have decided that we need to discontinue the tours so we have the time to prepare for these 2 upcoming events here at the retreat.
