Sunday, October 21 RETEAT W/PRAVRAJIKA GITAPRANA 10:30-4
THE TRADITIONAL WORSHIP/PUJA OF THE DIVINE MOTHER
Ever wonder what exactly happens during a puja? The puja as we perform it is a powerful means of worshipping the Divine. It is also a sadhana, a spiritual practice that connects the worshipper with the multiverse manifested by the Mother, both internal and external. Gitaprana will give a detailed explanation of all the different steps that are found in the puja and some of the metaphysical meanings behind them. It will not be instruction on how to perform a puja, but an in-depth overview of this wonderful spiritual practice.
BOTH DAY AND NIGHT VISITORS, PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THIS RETREAT. DAY VISITORS EMAIL firstname.lastname@example.org. OVERNIGHT VISITORS PLEASE FILL OUT THE OVERNIGHT APPLICATION IN THE VISIT SECTION OF ridgely.org.
Tuesday, November 6 KALI PUJA 10pm-4am
This is our elaborate 16-item, all night worship of the Divine Mother in Her form as Dakshina Kali. During this puja we “invoke the life”, the presence of the Divine Mother in our little image that usually lives in our shrine room. After that invocation She is said to be specifically present, alive, in the very room to be with Her devotees and receive the external offerings. At the very end of the puja we “withdraw the life” from the image and She returns with joy to the formless.
Here is the schedule:
10pm-2am Puja and kirtan
2-3am Homa Fire
3am Flower offering,Shanti Jal followed by prasad
We are inviting all our musician friends-singers, instrument players to come and offer kirtan to the Mother.
We are inviting all to bring offerings to this puja-flowers, food, perfume, jewelry . Please bear in mind that all offering have to be pure. Food must be prepared carefully, in the right frame of mind, in pure pots and dishes WITHOUT TASTING IN ADVANCE. Purchased food should be offered unopened. Flowers should not be sniffed. Perfume, jewelry, etc. should remain in the store packaging. The idea here is the Mother should be the first enjoyer of the offerings.
All are welcome to attend all or part of this celebration. We will open the retreat houses to friends who wish to rest after the whole night of celebration. Usual suggested donation will not apply for this one night.
